Are These Packs Ligit?

eBay Link

Do you guys think these are ligit? How can someone have all those stars on tops of packs? Plus the GAI graded packs he has look very suspicious!! What do you guys think?? Thanks.

  • I would trust the stars on top of the cello packs more than I would trust Gai opinions on the wax packs.
I know from selling/busting 85 Topps & Fleer Cello boxes/cases that it was possible for Clemens to be on top of both cellos.
the same holds true on the Molitor & Murray cellos. I don't know about 1980 topps cellos.

Also wanted to say I don't know seller, but looking at his feedback, most of his negatives seem to be from slow shipping or slow pays.
his last negative is 3 years old.

No on the 85 cello, every side is puffed out so that makes all them bad IMO

I am always suspicious when they do not show the back of the pack. For that reason alone I would pass. They are not overly expensive items so I would wait for a PSA slabbed one to show

Thanks all for the info!! Any way to get these packs/seller removed from eBay?? Wouldn't want to see someone else get scammed...

I think that might be a little drastic. I don't think these are bad.

I passively collected star-on-top packs for a little while, and honestly most 80's stuff is pretty easy to come by. Obviously a couple of these are hefty stars, but ultimately not all that hard to find.

Puffy sides can be bad as jmoran said, but not always. I have a lot of legit cellos from the 80's that I pulled myself that look like that.

I'm certainly not saying to take a risk if you don't feel comfortable, but saying with certainty that these are bad is tough without better/more images & scans.

Thanks. I'm going to ask for scans of the backs -- curious to see if I get a response!

And how about those GAI holders? Definitely not ligit, right??

I would not say that these packs are necessarily bad....this seller has purchased most of these packs from a variety of sources, and though I don't deal in 80s packs anymore, I do re3member that 1985 Topps cellos were notorious for being puffed out...the majority of GAI packs in the older holders are legitimate...of course there are some bad packs, too, like the "grocery" cellos, the 1958 cellos and the star pack 1973 cellos with 1975 wrappers, but like anything else in this hobby, you have to know your source and do your homework..
