Golf card question

So I was a big fan of the Upper Deck Golf products. I understand why they stopped making cards. I can see how it would be hard for Woods and Mickelson to carry the product by themselves.
As I am sitting here watching the PGA Championshiop--I see MANY Young Guns that could carry a golf release again. I can easily see a good Dozen or so Players that would spark golf collecting again. With the vets like Woods, Mickelson, Furyk, Els, and Singh to the youngsters like Mcilroy, Watney, Villegas, Kutchar, Mahan, Scott, and othere. I think a good golf product could do very well this year if Upper Deck made only ONE good product like and SP Authentic.
And before some make comments about the players I listed in my Youngsters line of players; I don't mean young in the sense of age, but young as in just kind of new hot players.

The other thing that would help drive the product is some of the LPGA players, Wie, Pressel, Lexi Thompson
Dustin Johnson would be another guy I would add to my PGA list.
The other thing is UD always had some of the "old timers' like Nicklaus, Palmer, Nelson. I am sure they could hook up some of those guys on the Sr Tour a little easier now.
Just my $.02

Collector of Vintage Golf cards! Let me know what you might have.
First, collecotrs realized that there are a bazillion Tiger cards available from these sets. Then Tiger's image was destroyed. Combine that with the fact that your average sports fan only watches golf when Tiger is in contention (which isn't very often right now) and you get a dead card market.
No one will ever compare to Tiger in his absolute prime which I believe has passed. So, the modern golf card market will never be the same.
Unless another player comes along that has the ability close to Tigers, you will never again see a mainstream golf set become popular.
<< <i>You are ignoring the fact that golf cards were only revised because of Tiger. 2001 UD and SP were on fire for a long time because of Tiger.

I agree with you
The reason why I think we will never see anybody come along again with the dominance of Tiger is because he played golf when golf wasn't cool. Other then Sergio and a few others--there were not many youngsters out there playing in the late 90's. Tiger took golf to another level and made golf cool. Now you have all these 10 year old kids asking for golf lessons for Christmas back in 1997. Golf became very cool and now all those kids that took lessons they got for Christmas are joining the Tour. When I was 10 back in 1987, there is no way I would go golfing. I played Baseball and Football. There was no way I would be seen with golf clubs.
I bet if you asked all these young kids on the Tour today, most would say that Tiger single-handedly made them want to play golf.
I guess what I am getting at is there is SO MUCH more talent playing today then there was back when Tiger played in his prime. And this is just my opinion. Sure there where a few guys, but not like today. And this is not taking anything away from Tiger. Tiger was the man back then. But Els, Singh, and Mickelson (who only one a Major a few years back) is not much compitition to contain Tiger.
It will be hard for a single golfer to make golf cards as sought after as Tiger once did--but this is kind of my point with all the new guys out there. The "Youngsters". I would love to have a Anthony Kim Auto's rookie.
Like I said earlier; if Upper Deck stuck to ONE bad ass set, I think it would do great. But like golfcollector said, you would need to incorporate LPGA and the legends as well. I think it could be awesome.
