Raw card pickups/local show analysis/scanner test

Went to a local show today. Dealer had some decent vintage but was way out of line in price. He wanted $40 for a raw Ex-Mt '67 Maris. He told me he thought BVG was the strictest grader(I laughed). I asked him what he thought the Maris would grade and he said "at least a 7" even though he had some other graded cards that he's sent in. He had $650 on a PSA 5 Koufax rookie... that alone should've given me a hint of what I was getting into. Still working/experimenting with my new Epson V300. I'm coming to the conclusion that it works great as long as you scan one card at a time. I still picked up a few raw cards as my $$ was burning a hole in my pocket. More scans to come later...

Nice cards. The scans look pretty nice, personally I think that that is the perfect amount of resolution needed.

I know I am getting older when I see way more defects in my scans then by looking directly at the cards. Nice cards/scans Neal.

  • Thanks Mike... the Herzog looks great if it wasn't for the print smear near the top border. I think the Bouton should 8. Hoping Red is a 7... no major pickups but some decent '60s. I hadn't been to a show since May/June so it was still a nice trip today.
