I refunded a buyer via paypal, claims he didn't get it.

I refunded an ebay buyer for a card that he returned two weeks ago. Claims his account doesn't show anything about a refund even though my PP account says I refunded money and it shows refund and told him where to look. What do I do now? Either he's scamming me for double payment or is there another way that he can read as a buyer that his PP payment was refunded.

  • Doesn't paypal have a transaction id number for the refund? If so I would give it to him and tell him to contact paypal.

Pass along the Pay Pal transaction number...then end communications. Nothing else for you to do for him.

If you would like to share his eBay name....I have a spot on my block list for him.

I had the same thing happen once - I swore he was trying to scam me, but the buyer was honest that he didn't see his payment refunded though. Turns out I think he paid with his credit card (not a bank account) through PayPal, so when I issued the refund, it went back to the credit card company and he didn't get it directly for a month or so.

Just tell him to call PayPal and it'll be worked out quickly, I'm sure...

I had a similar situation, about 9 months ago, I was getting really fed up with the buyer, but with patience and instructions a 2 year old could follow, he finally realized, i was not trying to screw him, he apologized about 3 or 4 times realizing it was his mistake and became a good regular customer. some people are just not good with computers and ebay/paypal sometimes multiplies this problem exponentially.

  • So much mistrust on ebay can create these kinds of problems also, everyone's always worried the other guy is trying to pull a scam.

I would still block the buyer...even if the example given is true....where it was refunded to his credit card and he didn't know/understand.

I also don't think the buyer in this example was being honest....it is more like manslaughter..but not murder of course. It was just not intentional.

Ignorance does not help me as a seller when you leave a negative claiming a falsehood, or force a refund or the like.
