Old topic different seller why does ebay allow this?

Napie RP

I know he has RP in title and description, but how many newbies know what "rp" stands for? I was looking for something else (49 bowman) Jackie and came across this seller. Oh well I guess 150+ isn't bad for a 4.5 Lajole if you don't mind it being a reprint. (barf)image

even says reprint in the Item Specifics - stupid buyers

Based on his current and past auctions (all private), he seems to specialize in selling "reprints" (counterfeits, more likely). He puts them in home-brew slabs and flips designed to look similar to PSA brand material in his scans.

Stupid buyers for not paying attention, but evil seller for trafficking in this crap.

    His title is the scam.

It is NOT a 1933 card.

He could state 'reprint' in the title and use 1933.

    Sleazy scum.

    Good for you.
  • The intent of the seller is to defraud buyers. That's the bottom line. He's designed a homemade slab to look like a PSA one and only uses the term "RP". Definitely bad for the hobby and I'd hope everyone here would report these auctions. Nothing but bad for the hobby.

You're exactly right. Interesting that he doesn't get more negs, but I guess the "educated" card buyers won't bid on scam garbage like this, and I guess when someone is naive enough to buy this crap, then when they receive it, sadly they like it.

yes, this is all so sadly true. we can only hope the winning bidder doesn't pay or returns the item and leaves a negative.
Ebay screams out we are here to protect the consumer/buyer, but are no where around to stop deceiving auctions like this. I guess we are just lucky that there are not more crooks/scam artists then what there is on ebay.

We all should be happy that free web sites like net54 and CU and other sports related sites exists to help the novice collector up to the advanced collector because otherwise there would be more scam artists getting over on the uninformed collectors. JMHO

at least the 49 bowman Jackie (Professionally Graded: a 9) is only bid up to 6.25. i guess anyone can claim they are a professional grader as long as they can print a label.

The only problem is that many of the so called novices come here after they have bought what they think is the deal of the century.

I think many folks out there are learning...for example those fraudulent "Xmas rack packs" don't sell for nearly as much money as they used to sell for years ago...but sadly they still do sell.
  • ill admit ive been fooled by good counterfeits, but thats a lot of $ for reprints.
