Unopened boxes

Several years ago I bought a blaster box and decided not to open it.

Today, I bought my 35th. I'll get bored some night and go crazy, but for now I like the display.

It's my Poor Man's Griffin's collection!!

This picture makes me think of Bill(lsutiger). Standing beside BBCE at the National he started twitching like a crack addict needing a fix because he wanted to bust some wax.

Think of all the redemption cards that are about to expire in those boxes. Nothing like hitting a great item and then not being able to redeem it. Now get ripping. Oldest stuff first.

Steve actually allowed me to use his computer behind the counter at National. I had to type with one hand and sit on the other hand so I wouldn't be tempted to "accidentally" rip a few packs while I was in there.

I got in the habit of buying two of everything. I would open one and keep the other.

I realize the odds of a big hit are slim in these retail boxes, but at least the possibility exists. If I wasn't so unlucky, I'd get to busting. This way, at least in my mind, my boxes have a big hit in there somewhere. I just figured I'd look later.

Even when I open a box, I usually save one pack to display...............

Here is a quick snapshot from my inventory room showing my shelf with some boxes. Most are crappy early 90s boxes not worth opening...maybe 15 or so 1991 FB boxes that I picked up for almost nothing....but have Favre RC's waiting inside for me.

that is exactly how and why my pack and empty wax box collection started!

It's a preemptive strike- gives them something to focus on instead of something you don't want to hear about!

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

I have to confess, I still have unopened 90s stuff in the closet!!!

I'm saving it to burn when the earth freezes over.

  • You know one of these days when your time on this Earth is over and you go to that "Great Card Show in the Sky." Wouldn;t you hate to leave behind unopened boxes of cards for someone else to rip?
