  • "Fun" isn't exactly the word I'd use, but I enjoy it. I find it therapeutic in a weird way.
'Sir, I realize it's been difficult for you to sleep at night without your EX/MT 1977 Topps Tom Seaver, but I swear to you that you'll get it safe and sound.'

    *1956 Topps baseball- 97.4% complete, 7.24 GPA
*Clemente basic set: 85.0% complete, 7.89 GPA
  • It always sounds like a fun idea, but about 1/3 of the way into it, I ask myself, "What was I thinking!" In the end there is a therapeutic relief, and a feeling of accomplishment.

I think Ron meant, you take 2 or more of a similar set and make one out of them.

I've done it, it was fun.

Fun when its done, not so much during! I know i have a sickness, but i actually do enjoy building the newer stuff where i don't have to take condition into consideration.

It's fun if it's a set that I really like. For example I've merged about five 1981 OPC set's into one and I found that to be kinda fun, but when I tried to merge two 1986 Topps set's I gave up. I still haven't finished that project and it's been over a year.

well back in the day early 90's i use to do this most of the spring and summer. i worked at a card store and we made hand collated sets. we would bust dozens of topps vending to make the sets. you would get about 12-13 sets out of the first case. then with each merge after that we would end up with around 17 sets a case there after.

not quite the same merging that ron was talking about but the pharse was the same that we used.
