Odds of getting an 8 on a crack & resub for this toughie.....

I think the odds would be better if it wasn't a known toughie, but maybe 3 or 4 submissions? I've got plenty of '64 8's with more fraying...

What do you think- any chance? Or is it the snow?

  • Mike,

Between the snow on the front and the two touched corners, I don't think it will get there. Best of luck if you decide to give it a shot though.

Nice scan. Shows the card very well. I don't see that as having any chance at an 8.

  • I must agree with the others, I think that one corner will definitely keep it from an 8, but it is still a beautiful card.

  • I think it is accurately graded now, and the chances that it will bump or drop are about equal.

    Hi Mike

I'm not the best as grading...

I think it's a really nice 7 - one corner appears considerably soft and another slightly frayed - 2 are super - on a good day - maybe 7.5?

    That's how I see it.

I agree with Stone could be a 7.5 - with the right grader it could become an 8 image

Really would not be much risk I can't see it going lower than a 7.

  • 7.5 on a good day, just don't see that one making it into a 8. 6.5 on a real bad day. Very nice card. good luck with whatever you decide. image

    Mike,
I think the card is a really good 7 which to me means a 7.5. There appears to be nothing that concerns me about the card in regards to problems.....I would break it out and give it 1 shot. I wouldn't send it in with other 64's. I know I'm basing this on theories; but I would send it on the 10 card special with 1956s or an issue that's not known for razor corners.

I only know a little about the Flood card----What is it worth in an 8 as opposed to a 7?

    Good luck Mike.
  • It's a great 7, and probably would get a half grade bump. I'm sure the big scan makes the now a little more obviouls. Tough grader could give it a 6.5, but the odds are about the same as giving it an 8. That's just my opinion.

Mike ... a GREAT looking card, but IMO, because of the snow and the bottom right corner, it will NOT end up in an "8" slab.

  • I agree with the others, I think the notch on the left hand side even with the bat on his jersey would keep it out of an 8.

    Nice card. Way tough too.

Looks accurately graded at a PSA 7.

Like others have said, the slight snow and lower right wear would prevent the 8 most likely.
  • It is nice card, but an 8. They will not overlook the bottom right corner. It will be a 7 and probably nothing less and absolutely not anything more. The top corners are fantastic. Curt Flood in a 8 is worth around $300 and a PSA 7 is probably $50 at best. I saw a Mint 9 fetch over $3,000 on Ebay.
