Got a couple boxes of 1984 Topps football in the mail today

I'm conflicted on what to do. What would you do?? I'll definitely be opening at least a few packs this afternoon at which time I'll post any notables.

A) Rip em!!
B) Stick em in the closet for 20 years
C) Sell one, rip the other
D) Sell some packs, rip some packs

The Answer is "A) Rip em!!", without question. Though some would disagree, IMHO - packs were made to be opened.
    Good luck!

Ripped 8 packs so far. Taking a break. It's taking every ounce of self-control I've got not to just bust all these. Here are the big three I've pulled so far. Got a couple Payton IRs, a LT, and a Marino IR as well.

Nice 8 packs. I think I would stop there with those pulls.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

Agree. I hate hitting the brakes - but what else could be in there? You got the cream of the crop already.

cant beat hitting a marino and elway in the first 8 packs. too bad about the centering. That happened to me in one of the group rips.. i was lucky enough to hit a marino but it was only psa 7 due to the centering. I wish i got a montana in the few packs of the 81. the centering was some of the best i've seen. Instead i got about 3 packs of minty fresh commons.

  • Sell the unopened material, especially because you got the hits. Let someone else take the gamble while you get the money in hand.

The internal dialog goes something like this, "there might be three more Elways in there, and one could be a 10!"....

And I couldn't help myself.... Opened another 22 packs....30 packs total... 3 Marino, 2 Elway, 1 Dickerson, 2 Long....here are the scans from the last 22 packs...the centered marino is a real nice card no printing errors, nice corners, just hope the centering is good enough....the elway was on the back of a pack and has wax on it...i've read about using nylon to get it off however i've never tried it myself...fairly pleased overall.

The nylon works well on the front, not usually on the back. It will remove the residue, but a stain will remain, as some wax has soaked into the cardboard when it was warm.
