For comparison, here's a Martin I got back recently from PSA/DNA.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
I wouldn't touch it. Looks like Greg Marino work to me.
Also, the fact that the picture was cut apart after the fact (after the signatures were applied) sends up a big red flag. A straight 8x10 signed by all three of these guys would be a $1000+ item yet it gets cut into thirds to make a display piece.
I don't know which way is up when it comes to autos, so to that extent I have no worthwhile opinion to offer. However, I think the way it is displayed looks pretty freakin' cool.
Check out my eBay listings for vintage graded baseball. BIN items are no more than 105% of VCP Average, auctions start at no more than 90% VCP Average. Refunds available on all sales. Buy and bid with confidence!

Marino was my first thought - the guy did very nice work - he was definitely gifted.
I don't know jack about auto authentication, but an explanation for the chop job may be that it was pieced together from 3 8x10's obtained from different sources, that had individual signatures.
Anyone selling THAT item though, is insane for not having it authenticated by PSA-DNA or JSA though...

It's the same picture - that's Billy's arms going around Mantle and DiMaggio - you can see the SAME background.
Why split this up? Plus it chopped Mantle's sig.
Maybe it was done for esthetics? If so - not good - with Mantle's sig cut short.
Still - I agree - why not get it authenticated? That would definitely increase it's potential sale value.
What mosaic is saying is that it was made from 3 unique 8 X 10 full pictures (the SAME image) but each one was only signed by one guy - thus the need to make a display piece out of the 3 different pictures to make it look like they all signed the same one.
Mark Calamusa started selling and trading baseball cards in 1979. During the 1980's, he started going to area and regional baseball card and memorabilia shows in South Florida. After graduating from high school, he entered the military for 4 years. After returning from serving his country, he continued his contribution to the community by serving with the Broward Sheriff's department from 1990-1993.
In 1993, Mark started his own business called CSC Collectibles. He then acquired his auctioneer's license, and began a significant career in sports memorabilia shows and auctions.
The first retail store was located on Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale, called Solid Gold Sports. This business was sold in 1994, and a new retail store was opened in Sunrise, Florida, called CSC Collectibles.
The most recent retail store was the "largest wholesale retail mall store" in Florida. This location served as the headquarters for private signings, and public appearances of sport and entertainment celebrities. Because we were able to have so many items signed at one time, this allowed the public to buy items at wholesale prices, while getting the same quality that the high priced dealers offered.
CSC Collectibles has also been one of the largest purchasers of collections, spending millions over the years on private collections. Many items have also been purchased at other memorabilia shows, and added to our extensive inventory. By purchasing items basically in "bulk", this has allowed us to pass those savings on to our customers.
While running the stores, he also started several regional baseball card and memorabilia shows. These shows included:
Beltz Outlet Mall in Orlando, Florida - the largest in the southeast, ran for 3-5 years on a monthly basis
Plantation Fashion Mall in Plantation, Florida - ran show for 3-5 years, bringing in some of the biggest celebrity and sport names in the hobby, such as Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, the 1977 Yankees, the 1972 Perfect Season Miami Dolphins, David Carradine, Carmen Electra, Verne "Minnie Me" Troyer...just to name a few!
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood and Sunrise - hosted memorabilia shows at both the original Hard Rock location at Sawgrass Oasis, and then at the current Hollywood location, in which we have previously hosted the 1977 New York Yankees.
Holiday Inn Memorabilia Shows, Fort Lauderdale and Sunrise - these shows ran for 5 years through the mid 1990s
Mark has also actively used his auctioneer's license, by starting several monthly Sports Memorabilia Live Auction - held across the country. He also continually does charity auctions, for such organizations as the Boys Club of America, Make a Wish Foundation, the Don Shula Steakhouse Charity Auction, The Ernest Wilford Foundation (where we did a live auction at the Jacksonville Alltel Stadium). There have also been numerous churches and local civic organizations that benefited from our auction services. We have also worked with Princess Cruise Lines, supplied all memorabilia for The Original Steakhouse locations...just to name a few!
I used to go to Solid Gold when I was younger when I visited my family down there. They had a nice card shop, but I was in my early teens so I wasn't fully aware. I bought a Judy Johnson signed Negro League cachet that from after doing my homework is legit.
That photo though that you posted looks fake, especially with the different pen signatures being used to look like it was signed at three separate times.
I basically have reverted to the fact that I will never buy a Mantle, DiMaggio or Williams item because there are just too many fakes going around. The whole operation bullpen opened my eyes.

DiMaggio really is a little off and Billy Martin is certainly not perfect. I would never buy anything Mantle or DiMaggio that hasn't been authenticated by PSA or JSA. I assume all three are not real. I ended up buying a fake Al Davis and remember smashing my keyboard after it failed PSA. I assume that almost everything Mantle or DiMaggio out there is faked. Same goes with Williams, Jordan, Gretzky, Al Davis, and Maravich. You are really taking your chances any of those autographs. That would certainly be a heck of a piece if authenticated by PSA. It is a $1,000 plus if legit.
So if someone wanted to purchase autographed balls/bats/etc. what and where would be the best places to purchase from to make sure that they were not fakes?
<< <i>So if someone wanted to purchase autographed balls/bats/etc. what and where would be the best places to purchase from to make sure that they were not fakes? >>
steiner, upper deck or tri star but if you find an auto with PSA/DNA authentication on ebay from a reputable seller then you should be fine.

I would also add Mounted Memories and GTSM to your list of Steiner, Upper Deck, and TriStar. You can buy directly from these companies, but you will get much better prices buying items with their holograms and COAs from eBay dealers. PSA/DNA and JSA COA's are also recognized as legitimate, they are the top 3rd party authenticators in the country.

Agree on the 'chop-shop' job also! Why?

Plus CSC has a TON of forgeries for sale. Stay away from them.
