Well I moved which I really didn't want to. I moved from NJ to NC and ordered the Yes Network to watch the yankees game like I used to while in NJ. Well I went to watch the game today and the Yes channel had these lame reruns of Centerstage. WTF?!!??! I start looking around on the menu and the game is there but is NOT on yes but on some MLB package. I look at the offical Yankees home page schedule and they have the game listed on Yes network. So what gives. I am POED i missed arods 600... really bummed out with my yes network channel down here...

I just got off the phone with the cable company. They offer this MLB package where I can watch any game at anytime. It's $150 per season. OUCH! I just want to watch the yanks on Yes like I used to be able to do... I just don't understand why in NJ Yes network shows live yanks games, but down here in NC they don't but they show Pre and Post game stuff and reruns of center stage and yankeeography....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

blame the contract between MLB and cable companies. I was in the same situation when I lived in Texas. I could watch NESN for Sox pregame and postgame, but for the game itself I had to turn to the MLB Extra Innings channels. Many times, the NESN feed was the one used by MLB Extra Innings. Replays of Sox games were also blacked out on NESN. Just the way it goes...which was no less of a PITA.
So, yes, Major League Baseball and the cable and satellite companies have set the rules - if you're out of market and you want to see your favorite baseball team, you have only two choices - shell out the $180 or so for the MLB package or just catch the occasional game on ESPN, FOX, or TNT.

<< <i>Why carry YES if the Yankee games are blacked out? That is the only reason to subscribe to it -- makes no sense whatsoever. >>
It makes perfect sense to MLB and the cable companies - they make more money that way. After all, if I could have gotten the Yankees games through the Regional Sports Network package, it would have been cheaper for me (about $10/month or $120/year vs. the MLB package which is, as I said, $180 or so). He who has the gold makes the rules.....
I just look at it this way - at $180 for 162 Yankees games, it's costing me about $1.10 per game which is certainly a heckuva lot cheaper than the DirecTV Sunday Ticket Package for NFL games at close to $300 for a 16-game season.
By the way, I recorded on my DVR the game with A-Rod's 600th HR so I can watch it over and over.
