Milestones occurring on August 4th are as follows:
1985 Carew gets hit 3000
1985 Seaver gets win 300
2007 Arod hits 500th HR
2010 Arod hits 600th HR
2013 Arod hits 700th HR ??????????

Interesting---per Alex's own words..he used from 01' to 03'
Prior non steriod 98'-42 99-'42 00'-41-- 99' had about 100 less at bats
Steriod 01'-52 02'-57 03'-47---definite spike
Stopped using 04'-36 05'-48 06' 35-------definite drop. same amount of at bats as steriod years.

I would really hate to be a Bonds collectors around here. Its almost like the general hate on everything modern and not a vintage HOF'er.
Collect what you want and like, and don't be a jerk to others doing the same.
Personally, I would would take a nice PSA 9 A-Rod SP RC over any vintage card in the same price range. I've seen A-Rod play. I'll likely even see in a few more WS before it is over.

The WGC Bridgestone Invitational is being played about 20 minutes north of my house (Akron, Ohio) and I got to go watch the practice round yesterday. Talk about up close and personal!

For all we know, he could have been using steroids throughout his entire career. He says he used them only while he was with the Rangers, but I'm not inclined to believe anything that fraud says. Everything that comes out of his mouth is contrived...He even employs a PR firm to tell him what to say in public. Of course they're going to try to minimize anything shady that he's done.
It's not my place to defend anyone BUT the pain killers were (probably) legally prescribed by a physician. The greenies taken during Mantle's playing days are a matter of history.
I don't think ARod's steroids that he has reluctantly admitted to were legally prescibed by a doctor.
