Need Help, Customs

I recently purchased two sports cards on eBay from Japan, the total for both cards is $4,000.
The package will be insured/valued for the full amount and be sent as "gift". I contacted USPS and they directed me to www.cbp.gov / 1-877-227-5511 , calling the number provided has been no luck because apparently the call volume is large and they keep telling me to call back later.....even though I have tried five or six times this week.
I am simply trying to find a chart that can give me approximate amount I would have to pay in tax.
Anyone know of a link or who else to call?

<< <i>Can you stop by your local post office and ask? You'll likely have to pick it up their anyway. >>
They told me to call up because they do not have the information.
<< <i>Through the website you gave there is an option to ask a question via email and get a direct response from the agency. >>
Waiting for response...

It is the govt. that you are waiting on, it could be a long wait. Good luck.
Use tax?
Steve
The tax also depends on what country the item is coming from and they charge more or less tax.
Item is coming from Japan
I had good intentions but at that point in time last year money and life were not stable.
The contest was not a sale or something that I owed.....just simply something I wanted to do to thank everyone for making this forum great. Unfortunately, I could not fulfill because of certain life events that changed my life, finances, etc.
I did send a few replies back to the winners explaining my situation and said sorry I could not fulfill.
What were the 2 cards?
I did not "stiff" anybody, it was free stuff that I intended to giveaway but my situation changed. My wife and I divorced and I made unexpected move.....the PSA boards was the last thing on my mind.
Again, I am sorry that I could not deliver on the free items.
Equal value? lol Did you even see the contest?
One card was I think a Randy Johnson PSA card, worth no more than $15.... The rest of the giveaways was going to be mostly common 80's 90's and some early 00's cards, depending on the person's favorite team...
I did not advertise to giveaway any gold bars or diamond rings LOL
Word is bond.
"Word is bond"
I wish I could say that to everyone who has broken promises to me but I get over it.
Sh*t happens, as long as you give valid reason people should be understanding.
Why is it being sent as a gift?
In regards to your thread....There is a great chance you can get screwed when making a purchase using the gift option in Paypal when buying from someone you don't know.
good luck to ya!
Brian

I my dealings with you I would have settled for at least one PM back instead of just being ignored.
