1952 Topps Centering

It seems that every 1952 Topps Willie Mays card has terrible back centering. Are there any other 1952 Topps cards that are known for this same kind of poor back centering?

  • Dumb as it may sound, on '52s it seems if the front is not centered neither is the back. Unlike cards from say the '63 set that can be pretty close to centered on the front and really OC on the back. I

think the front and back are lined up pretty well throughout this set, so it just depends on the cut. A few cards that come to mind with centering problems, #17 Jim Hegan,#22 Dom DiMaggio, #36

Gil Hodges,#44 Con Dempsey,#46 Gordon Goldsberry and #47 Willie Jones, to name a few. My Mays is only a PSA 3 but it's centered on the front and so is the back for the most part. Doug

Here's a Mays with acceptable centering.

I never really gave this alot of thought - if the front has pretty good centering - I don't give the back alot of consideration - I guess that's my bias?

BTW - what happened with all the reprints your picked up? Did you get a refund or what?

  • I filed a claim with PayPal, and I'm still waiting for PSA to send back the cards so that I can return them to the seller.

Hope everything goes well - it should.
