how about pwcc? if you're gonna go for it, might as well go with the seller who generates what seem to be astonishingly inflated amounts for high grade vintage cards.

    just sayin'.

All this because of your gun toting reaction would be my guess. But the PWCC is probably the best suggestion, you should check it out.

I'm staying out of the namecalling and pettiness, but I do want to say... this is a BAD time to be trying to sell collectibles or anything else if you're trying to remotely recoup your investment.

Roland, I remember a few years ago when you were still putting your master set together. Buying things up for then crazy amounts of money. In many ways, you actually helped create some of those high prices. Lords knows 4SC and places doing the crack-resub game with 75s, 86s, etc., helped too.

That caused even more people to submit cards to PSA... and then the economy tanked hardcore.

Baaaad combo. In many ways, I'm glad my Ryan collection consists of more than 50% cards I bought as a youth, and retain even though they're not all 9s or 10s.

You did such a nice job building your set... at probably the worst possible time to do so. You have my sympathies.

Question: Why didn't you attempt to put it into a mainstream auction as 1 lot, or see if Donald Spence might want some of your cards to further improve his already-stellar collection?

Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

I don't agree with ebay on the "No PSA 10s". Personally, if I'm looking for a high-grade card and see a 9 listed, I like the extra info. And for what it's worth...I've bought many cards from Roland and he's always been a pleasure to deal with.

I have dealt with Roland in the past too. No problems. So give the guy a break. He is just trying to sell a card. If no one wants it, then ignore the posting. Or send him an IM with your best offer.

It is my understanding you can phrase it "1 of 5, NONE HIGHER"....if you put that in the subtitle, I don't see how that can't be acceptable.....

I'm fine with the "No PSA 10" in the decription if he is selling a PSA 9 with no qualifiers. However, this guy has PSA 6s listed with "No PSA 10" while there are 7s and 8s in the pop report.

1 of 5 can get you in trouble (highly unlikely but possible, think factory numbered 1/5 or 1 of 5). Pop 5 with none higher would be the way to word it.

That card looks off center. Why doesn't it have an O/C qualifier?

DUDE, I think we established that the card is not the best on centering!! If you want to know why it's slabbed PSA 9 with no qualifiers, then why don't you call Joe Orlando and freaking ask him.

IF YOU DON'T WANT THE CARD THEN DON'T FREAKING REPLY TO THE THREAD!!

Anyways, the card sold for $3,500 today. I took a loss but still actually profiting on selling my Master Set.

I'm at $55,000 in just 3 weeks and still have over 1500 cards to go with 6-8 high dollar ones left.

I don't need these boards to sell anything. I sold nothing through these boards since I started selling my set.

I sold $55,000 worth of Nolan Ryan's from EMAILS to people I know. Who are true COLLECTORS and not like you people!! Ebay sucks too!! I only sold maybe $6,000 of the $55,000 off eBay!!

For those of you that know me, you know me!! I'm the best when it comes to Nolan Ryan trading/selling/buying!! If you want a Rare Ryan I'm the man to talk to, because I know who has it!!

I'm sure these boards are populated by a few riff-raff, but the cumulative card knowledge possessed by these members dwarfs anything you could bring to the table. Referring to us as "bums" or "[psuedo] collectors" was not an exercise in tact. That said, I'm glad you sold you card, partner, and I'd like to join my fellow degenerates in wishing bon voyage. You will be missed.

Roland, I don't mean any disrespect, but are you desparate for money??? This board gave you some very good advice on how to sell the card to maximize your proft (PWCC, REA, etc), yet you chose to sell the card through "email" for a loss. It would not surprise me in the least if your buyer winds up following the advice given on this board and profits from the card, when you yourself chose to ignore the advice and took a loss. You will be missed......

The last PSA 9 sold at auction at mile high for $4100 so I didn't lose too much. I'm sure this one since it was so off centered would have brought $3500. Like I said I've been trading/selling/buying Ryans and know the market and buyers.

    Thanks,

    Roland

Roland i wish you well too, but try to recognize that a newb asked the o/c question, quite likely DIDN'T know the answer, and you ran him off like a troll.....enjoy your $$ o Guru Of All Things Ryan, here's hoping you won't need to pizz a bunch away on heart medication.

I think the guy who bought the card from you for $3,500 listed it on ebay and he's going to get more than 4k.

Why did you sell so cheap?

Roland, your card was pretty nice to me. I know it sold already, but really all you needed to sell it on ebay yourself was maybe a better presentation/scans and selling for a BIN/offer, and some patience.
The right buyer would eventually come along at your price. The centering looked about 40/60, which seems acceptable to most people who buys 9's.

I also have no problem with sellers putting 'no 10's' in the title. More info is good.

I do have a problem with sellers trying to sell o/c cards and not putting that in the title. That's a far bigger problem and waste of buyers time.

Congrats on your sales. Not all people on these boards are bashers.

Sorry you sold off your collection. I know you loved building it.

I really have nothing to add here only that the newb is more likely an alt.

Good luck on the rest of your sales.
