Help with my new Epson V300 scanner--"PLEASE"

At what DPI do you guys scan cards?

I'm doing 200 and it looks good. Is this the right DPI for EBAY and stuff.

Also, If it is a 1969 or other white bordered card...do you place something dark behind it?

Thanks in advance for the replies. On SGC cards this scanner is night and day from other scanners.

I'm getting ready to order one tonight. I'm sure I'll have questions too.
  • I do 300x300. Seems to work well.

I use 300dpi on my epson v300, I just leave the lid up for white bordered cards:

Mickey ... I have had the scanner for over one year but have not played around too much with the settings. I use the "Home Mode" and the settings I use are "Photograph", "Color", "Other", 300 DPI. I too keep the lid up when scanning. This is what it looks like:

Mickey, those are the settings I want. Those 4-5 you just did... '63 Aaron, '64 Mays, '67 Mantle, etc. STUNNING scans.

Thanks Bosox. Leadoff, if you have any problems when you get yours just let me know.

I have to call myself stupid. I'll spend thousands on cards; but it's taken me this long to buy a decent scanner....and it was cheap. It was like $100 and after bing and ebay bucks I paid like $30. It was actually fun looking at the scans.

    Thanks for everyones advice.

Anyone use this for scanning negatives or slides?

And if so how well does it do that?

    Nice scans Mickey.

I have an Epson v500 scanner. Like Mike mentioned just keep the lid open to give you that dark barkground look.

I have my dpi set at 300. I use the professional mode. Once you get the colors set correctly (I used a '86 Fleer basketball card to set mine), you can save the setting and it will make consistant looking scans.

By the way, awesome cards you have there.

Cardbender ... tried using the setting you use ... wondering if this looks any better than my others.

    Hi Doug,
Your Mays looks great but so does your Rocky card. Hard to say
    which setting is better.

    I have my settings at:

    Mode : professional

    Document type : reflective
    Document source : document table
    Auto exposure : photo

Image type : 48 bit color
    Scanning quality: best
    Resolution : 300 dpi

Then on the color settings, I adjusted them to make my scans
look as close as possible to the actual card's color.

    I hope that helps.
