When I visited with Eric in 2008, he gave me a personal tour of the newly opened museum at WU. The sample sheet was hanging on the wall and he spent about 10 minutes describing the background and it's significance to me. It's most likely still there.

Fortunately, I had a tape recorder going as we spent about an hour exploring some of the highlights of the Newman collection. The pictures that I took of Eric in the library/study room and the items that he showed me will remain a highlight in my activity in American numismatics.

Presently, I'm trying to get the "John J. Ford, Jr., and the Franklin Hoard" book done and printed. The first copy will go to him in tribute.

I used to work for the Edision's in St.Louis and the Newman's married into the family. It gave me the chance to meet Eric. What a true gentleman. I plan on having lunch with his nephew this week in NY..................MJ
