1947 was a good year in Southern Rhodesia

King George VI was still King Emperor (of India):

King Emperor no more, now just a number:

In 1953 they got a Queen:

I visited South Africa and Rhodesia in 1971 but was not interested in coins then,
otherwise I could probably have acquired many coins from Southern Rhodesia,
Rhodesia and Nyasaland, and South Africa.

I did see a nice waterfall.

I was in Africa not long after you (S. Africa and Tanzania in 1972).

There are some cool designs there. I hadn't seen the 6d or the crown before. And that particular crown you posted looks like a nice example.

I see the bird sculpture (idol?) thingie on the shilling survived on Zimbabwe's coinage.

I've always wanted to go to that part of Africa (both SA and Zimbabwe). The furthest south I've been there is Kenya, near the Tanzanian border (also been to Egypt and Libya).

    Nice thread.
