Ground rule single?

Well, I learned something new today.

If a player hits a walk-off ground rule double with the bases loaded in a tie game, it's scored as only a single.

makes sense. Outfielders playing in and that double could have just as well been an out had the outfielders even tried to catch the ball.

Thinking could be that when runner on third scores the game is over. However if the batter hits a home run he gets credit for the homer and 4 RBIs. On a ground rule double there should be credit for 2 RBIs.

In this scenario the batter would only get credit for the single as it scores the winning run. I believe that homerums used to be treated the same way iirc.
However now they now give homeruns hit as walk off full credit since by definition a homerun allows the batter to knock himself in. So he therefore gets credit for the homerun.
