Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

here is a buyer u can add to BBL or put me on your BBL.

misszombiekitty. perfect feedback 59 positives (a 9 month ebay pro) LOL.

Sent 99 cent card out and 2 1/2 weeks after delivery, she opens the package and claims I sent the wrong card and tells me the wrong card I sent her. well I only had 1 of each card and still have the card that she claims I sent her, and of course the card that I was suppose to send her which was my last one is gone.

So being the nice guy that I am, I just gave her a full refund and apologized for my screw up (LOL) and then put her on my BBL.

I just figured it was not worth the hassle or the headache to argue over 3.74 knowing that I would lose a paypal SNAD and get negative feedback ( which I still might get). I just wish that sellers were allowed to leave negative feedback for buyers like this, because if sellers were still allowed to leave negative feedback, I would have told this buyer to pound sand and took a negative and left one, but after 4+ years and 4000 positives and 0 negatives, I am willing to take a 3.74 hit to my bank account and cross my fingers she just goes away and doesn't leave a neg.

Just thought I would share . heck maybe I should open up a buyers account and start buying and then 3 weeks after I receive the package open it. (I know it is my fault for even having an auction starting at 99 cents and it is always the greedy Sellers fault.)

thanks for letting vent my displeasure.

how did you package the 99 cent card for $2.75 shipping cost? Especially with how ebay is skewed to the buyer, even on cheap cards it's important to buy delivery confirmation at the least for your own protection, and shipping through ebay it is only 19 cents. Better than losing the card and having to refund.

I think the ebay world would be better if everyone made a point to earn a neg on their first transaction. It would make the decisions at a later date much more easier since your choice would be between 1 and 2 negs as opposed to 0 and 1.

Regarding this transaction, I would have asked her to send the card back, even though that might lead to a neg, just to see if she actually went and bought another to return to you.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

Is it possible you accidentally switched the pics in the ebay listings leading to the buyer's confusion?

card in top loader in team bag, 2 pieces of cardboard then bubble wrap, then into bubble mailer with DC then off to the post office which charged 2.19. of course she could have bought 2-25 cards and the cost would have been 2.75.

No checked the auction listing while running & after it ended.

yes 50% my fault for running a 99 cent auction. it always seems to be the less than 10.00 items that cause the headaches.
  • Those type buyers are all over ebay no matter what the price is or category. Most buyers know they have sellers by the balls. You still may end up with a neg despite all your actions just the way buyers are these days.

I absolutely agree with you. I was somewhat proud of my first negative. Since ebay changed the feedback rules a few years ago, the negative is now gone. Now I'm back to defending my perfect feedback. Oh well.

    And, remember:

You now only need to sell FOUR+ more such items to
    get your $3.74 back.

    .........

I am still clueless as to why the tiny-money items cause almost
ALL of the problems, but they do.

Some of it may have to do with sellers trying to harm other
sellers by making little buys and then causing grief. But, most
of it comes from psycho-stupid Americans that think EBAY is
a video-game AND that it is fun to "beat" sellers.

I don't know why everyone gets on people for selling $0.99 cards... so what? If I can sell this mountain of cards on my desk for a buck a piece, then I'll have a mountain of bucks instead of cards. I don't mind that at all. I sell cards for $0.99 cents and charge $2.00 to ship the first card (add $0.25 each additional card up to a $5.00 cap, unlimited after that). I ship it in a hard sleeve and a bubble mailer for $0.88 postage.

    (+) Card plus s/h: $2.99

    (-) Listing fee: $0.05
    (-) Final Value Fee: $0.09
    (-) Paypal Fee for $2.99: $0.39
    (-) Cost of top-loader: $0.06
(-) Cost of Bubble Mailer: $0.44 (before this board helped me discover RoyalMailers.com)
    (-) Postage: $0.88

    Total Profit: $1.08

Want to know what I do with the $0.09 in over-charged shipping? I pocket it. Sue me.

Is it worth the hassle to list cards for $0.99 and put up with the random flakes? I don't mind spending my time selling/shipping this stuff. I do it from my living room while my wife and I catch up on our TiVo (we don't have kids). We enjoy our TV/ebay time together. If you do your job right as a seller, your problems will be minimal.

Call me crazy, but if I can turn a stack of $0.99 cards into a PSA 10 Ripken, I'll do it all day. image
  • Nobody gets on anyone about it, but most of your problem bidders seem to come from items that sell for less than 10.00 I get more have you shipped yet or I won the item Friday night it is Monday morning where is my item emails on those items than any others.

The "getting on" is in the context of folks complaing about
    bad outcomes.

EVERYBODY should sell how/what/when/where THEY chose to.

    ........

Personally, I am FAR too lazy/greedy to sell tiny-money items.

Selling 20, .99-cent items requires about 20-times the work
of selling ONE $20.00 item. And, generates about 20+ times
the risk of a bad outcome.

That's true, the dumb ones seem to be the sub-$5.00 bidders, for some reason.

It's not just this thread, many times I've seen people say you're stupid to list anything for a buck. To each their own I guess.

I always wondered, what do you do with those cheaper cards? Do they stack up in a closet or on your desk? I simply sell them rather than throw them away.

Like I said, we have no kids, so we have more free time than most.

Usually, I give them to kids or their parents.

If I wanna sell 'em, I build lots of like-kind items and
price price them towards the $20 mark. Each lot has
30-50 cards and shipping is "free." (Like-kind might
    be team/player/position/etc.)

The thought of packing/shipping a bunch of 99-cent
items is simply something I cannot embrace.

    In a retail/walk-in environment, 99-cent items are
great. They prolly fund the lunches of MILLIONS of
merchants everyday AND there is ZERO effort/work
    involved.

In my mind, I'm doing that stuff at a time where I would otherwise be doing nothing, so why not make a few bucks while watching TV. It takes up a max of two hours a week for me.
