What makes today's sports moment more important than what has transpired?

Discuss-

I will add some comments at some point- if for no other reason than to...

What has transpired is old news. Just some crap your grandpa told you expecting you to be impressed. Todays sports moment is whats happening, exciting, something you will tell your grandkids about someday.

I think this is a fair question-

    For College Football-

    Greatest upset
    Greatest team
Heck... National Championships for certain years?

    Golf

The 1953 season by Ben Hogan or what we see with Tiger Woods?

    Baseball

The 1968 World series or last year's?

Absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. Your family and children are more important.
A loved one living with a physical ailment, a sick friend who needs your help, etc. etc.

Sports is just a temporary escape from reality, and a very good one at that. If you are lucky enough to
catch a great game, and your team is in it, then enjoy the ride.

But to answer your question, no sporting event is ever that important. No one is greater then the other.
The Miracle on Ice was beautiful, and it was better then any other ice hockey event, but both are forgotten, and the real
    world rules the day.

good reponse and I am taking the responsibility for not being more specific...

I meant to limit the discussion to sporting events...
