I just finished
Heart of the Game: Life, Death, and Mercy in Minor League America and had to share my thoughts
This is the story of the tragic death of Mike Coolbaugh -- he was the minor league coach who was killed by a foul ball back in 2007. The author does a great job detailing life in the minor leagues and even though Mike Coolbaugh's baseball time seamed to have more down's than ups he was an amazing person that never let the down's get in his way. The access to players, owners, trainers, family and even the player who hit the ball ~ Tino Sanchez Jr. is amazing and I can say that few books have moved me -- this is one -- I knew the story of his death but not the story of who he was and what he was all about ~ I am glad I do know now.
