I can't tell with these. Is there any wear? This is from my wife's step-mom's collection.

It looks like there is some rub on the reverse. It looks nice though. -Dan
  • Looks like cleaned UNC from the pic.

Look at the shield on the small eagle's breast on the rev for wear

I think that it is definitely AU. I would bet that it has a little environmental damage which makes it appear cleaned.

I think the lighting on the picture isn't quite right and makes it look slightly washed out (cleaned). I bet its a nicer colour in hand though and although I don't know this series the reverse seems to have a lot of detail.

Quick image, coin has lustre not shown in the image. Not cleaned that I can see.

The reverse may be unc or unc with a slight rub but the obverse
looks like it has problems. My guess is PVC etching or and it was
cleaned with a Q-tip and alcohol.

It's hard to be sure of much from a picture but I'd call it AU unless
it has good luster on both sides or absolutely no rub on the high
    points.

I agree - it does look played with one way or another - heck just send it out for grading if its worth it. image
    GLuck!
  • Although the images are slightly out of focus, there appear to be many hairlines on the reverse (shown on the left in your image)
running diagonally from upper left to lower right.

It is still a nice coin, but perhaps UNC Details, Improperly Cleaned.

I have collected U.S coins for many years, and then Civil War Tokens, but am now actively building a collection of 18th Century Conder Tokens, the coins that made the Industrial Revolution a whopping success. : )
