Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuke!

From MLB Auctions I picked up the batting helmet that the Orioles' Luke Scott wore on June 26th during the "1970 Throwback" game vs. the Nationals. Luke actually scored the winning run that afternoon wearing this helmet on a wild pitch from the Nats' Drew Storen:

<< <i>Nice pickup, are those auctions at MLB.com?
Mike >>
Mike:
This actual auction one was thru the Orioles web site...(my mistake originally in stating it was MLB Auctions)
I wish I had room for stuff like that - gloves, helmets, bats - all terrific 'tangible' pieces of history that one can handle and enjoy without worry of any damage or wear.
Thanx for sharing.

He's one of our home town boys,He went to Deland H.S.,right down the road. With Chipper Jones
coming outta Pierson,I hope Luke does great! I can't believe he hurt himself running after the H.R.,that sucked.
We actually have quite a few sport stars coming out of our little beach town.
Great helmet!

<< <i>Is this the same guy that was in the Houston Astro's organization? If so, we used to enjoy watching him play some minor league Double AA games in Round Rock. Seemed like a solid guy and good player. Glad to see he made it to the show! >>
same guy; came to Baltimore from Houston in the Tejada trade (now a fan favorite)
<< <i>I'm curious as to what the general consensus amongst O's fans is regarding the cartoon Oriole vs. the ornithologically correct one. As a non-fan, I kind of liked when they switched to the "real" bird, but seeing the 70s logo again makes me nostalgic. >>
I like the real bird version. What I don't like is the "O's" logo. Just my preference.
Nice P/U.

I've never been an Orioles "fan", but I prefer the cartoon logo. It just reminds me of the 1970s/early 1980s and watching Brooks Robinson, Jim Palmer, Eddie Murray, Kenny Singleton, and of course Earl Weaver constantly arguing with Ron Luciano
