Trimming Bazooka cards from the 60's?

I am curious if anyone has experience trimming 60's Bazooka cards, these are the handcut cards with the dotted outlines.

The example I have is in a PSA 8 holder, the cut was not as straight as i'd like (which i'd assume was the result of 8).

Without compromising the dotted lines I am considering having it cracked out and re-trimmed for straighter edges, it's really for my sanity more than a grade bump.

What are your experiences? How does PSA grade these handcut Bazooka's based on the "cut"

I'll post the example later when I get a chance to post a picture from the auction.

    I would not do it.

A PSA 8 would be good enough for me. If you cut it a little wrong, it gets a PSA Authentic.

    Not worth the risk.

The real question is, how upset would you be, if after cracking, trimming and re-subbing, PSA then marks it, "AUTHENTIC?"
As fickle as PSA is, that could happen. No guarantees. And . . . if that happened, you'd leave a ton of moolah on the table.
It's Koufax, it's an "8." If it were me, I'd keep it as is. Just not worth the risk to clean up the un-even cut.

I'm assuming you are talking about the top edge.

I have cut several bazooka and wheaties cards and that cut will be VERY difficult. Those slight tilts I always have trouble with and more times then not it will end authentic. Don't get me wrong, a steady hand with a metal ruler and a box cutter (or razor blade) and it can be done easily, but it is a tuff cut. I personally wouldn't try it for two reasons.

    1. There is no room for error. The top edge is already on the dotted line and the slightest of errors would knock it down to an Authentic.
    2. The card is already graded an 8! Even if you do even out the edges and take out the tilt you are no where close to being guaranteed a 9 or 10. I never have gotten a 10 on an already cut bazooka card and a 9 is pretty damn hard especially with little wiggle room so I would be happy with the 8.

    Just a very humble opinion.

I teach studio art and photography=ypu wpould be foolish to use a straight razor and a metal ruler...invest in a roto trim....I use this all the time for trimming photos and art..it is awesome and it can cut the smallest sliver ..get a roto trim!
and by the way..leave Sandy alone! there is not enough in the upper left Scott
