Thank you Robbie Thompson's Head

I had always wondered why this was never caught and replaced especially in the year 1989 with both the Ripken debacle and the Paul Gibson Score correction. Speaking of the Gibson, I never understood why that had to be corrected but the Rafael Ramirez 85 Donurss was perfectly acceptable.

If it wasn't for the placement of Thompson's head, we wouldn't have a billboard selling insurance on something only Lloyd's of London would normally do. Because of this, Jose Uribe's 89 Upper Deck card was one of my favorite growing up.

With this said, I was wondering if anyone else has come across anything in a card that upon further inspection or better judgment really shouldn't be there but was never altered.

Is that like "Largest insurer of..." or "Insurer of the largest..."? The wording is a little ambiguous.

True. I always went with the second option.

I read it as a plural word, so they insure the most.

The Ramirez is much, much worse than the Gibson card but was never altered. In Gibson's card, they airbrushed Luis Salazar's hand out. Sorry I don't have a copy available to scan right now of the corrected version but the hand is just gone. Seriously though, what was Donruss thinking? Topps on more than on occasion issued cards of Claude Raymond with his zipper down but that was far less noticeable than Ramirez's hand placement.

With as many times I saw the Ramirez card, I never realized the hand position.
