OK...it's a commercial.
But we're really pouring our hearts and souls into PCGS CoinFacts. So here's what I want to do to help spread the word.

First of all, check out PCGS CoinFacts. It's like $10 bucks a month or $100 a year. If you can afford it...subscribe today. If you don't like it...I'll personally refund your dough. If you truly can't afford the $10 bucks a month...here's the deal. First five to email me at dh@collectors.com and tell me they want a subscription I'll give a free one year sub to. Only two conditions...first, you really can't afford the 10 bucks a month (so TDN don't email me), second, you have to look at PCGS CoinFacts once a month and post a message on this board about what you saw and whether you thought it was great, so-so, or sucked (either way OK).

I wish you would do a few free weekends, and post it here. I would like to look and see what has happened. I just hate to sign up for something and then decide i do not or will not use it and then have to spend time cancelling things.

I signed up for auto pay health insurance 2 years ago at almost 900 per month and could cancel at any time. They actually nuked me after 3 months due to a ommission by the selling rep and kept on my kid and wife. They still took 900 per month. So i cancelled when my wifes company did open enrollment. Month after month they still kept pulling the 900 out. It was such a hassle to get the thing stopped and my money back.

Can you just pay 10 bucks and use it for 30 days and then decide?

I will admit, when CoinFacts first switched from free to a paid-subscription service last year, I was VERY skeptical. I already have a very substantial library of numismatic reference materials, along with other subscriptions and memberships (ANA, CoinWorld, etc), so how could CoinFacts really be worth paying for? Well, I figured I owed it to myself to at least check it out, and to get the best deal, I signed up for a year.

Well, now it's a year later, and I have to say, Kudos to CoinFacts , that has been money very well spent! CoinFacts has so much information to offer, there is not a single doubt in my mind that the subscription is more useful and valuable to me than my ANA membership, my subscriptions to CoinWorld and Numismatic News, my annual RedBook purchases, etc. COMBINED! In fact, I have found the information to be an essential resource to consult in evaluating prospective coin purchases. I was actually able to use CoinFacts to research and strategize my Naftzger Sale coin purchases even BEFORE the Goldbergs' catalogs were printed! If you think about it, if the information helps you to make one good coin purchase, or avoid one bad purchase, it's a small price to pay.

Now, I understand that some might just not be able to afford it, especially the young numismatists among us. So, I will match hrh's offer, and cover a one-year subscription for the first 5 young numismatists who email David Hall (dh@collectors.com), mention the offer from Cardinal, and agree to make an informative posting each month. I took a year subscription a few months ago and go to CoinFacts quite a bit. I must say I was surprised a while back when i was going through a pile of Indian cents putting them in staple flips and labeling them. I can't remember now exactly but something brought my attention to the fact there were 2 types of 1886, I had one in the group and wanted it labeled correctly, I had no idea how to know the difference, I went to CoinFacts assuming I could get that info. I was surprised that it listed a Type 1 & 2 but no info to show how to tell them apart. Maybe I missed it, if I did I apologize for my inabilities. I found the info I needed but I had to go dig out a book. I say this with the understanding that this is still work in progress.

Anyway..Thanks to Mr. Hall and the Cardinal for what they are offering, great promotion for a great product.

I signed up a few months back, and have to say that I don't use it that often, but each time that I do, I end up spending more & more time there! The auctions archives is invaluable - a great tool to use for current trends. I always went to Heritage (and still do sometimes) - but with Coinfacts, Heritage is just one of several auction sources.
HRH & Ron are doing a very good job in the continuous building of the site, and as time passes, and more members add to it, it should only get better.

Don't forget my idea about once a year hard-copy of the pop reports and price sheets. Sort of a once a year magazine which could be subsidized with lots of advertising.

Or give us the ability to print the entire thing out once a year without having to scroll to each and every page to do so.

Honest thoughts:
I have been on the fence for a while now and save up my one click a day for what I am looking for but am close to joining, that being said.

My Idea for maybe making your subscription rate go up would be to clearly separate or include ALL the knowledge & encyclopedia aspects(prices/pop reports/censuses/archives) from your business side(submissions/bulk/collectors corners submittals).
I crave knowledge but to get access to all of your shared public databases I have to join two yearly fees and end up doing neither. I also enjoy utilizing my dealer for submitting coins for grading and value his advise and the excuse to leave work early to pick up and enjoy the B&M which is harder to find time by the day. I doubt you would have a decline in people requesting submitting privileges if you moved all of the pop reports over or simply shared the access. If you are planning on having a comprehensive database why hold back a big part?

I love PCGS Coinfacts but I'd love it more if it were free.

With that said, I believe that PCGS is doing everything possible to make the site as informative as possible even to the point of allowing me to offer my opinion and views on the Eisenhower Dollars!

The information provided is great!
The photo's are great!
The support team is VERY responsive to error's, omissions and inclusions.

With anything folks, the more that people use it, the cheaper it COULD get since servers and support staff costs m-o-n-e-y.

Of course, the otherside is that they could start heavy advertising and clutter it up with those stupid Netflix popups but that would screw it all up.

My advice is to figure out a way to afford it and make it work for you. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

As for the $100 a year, you can ether pay by renewable monthly service at $9.95 or a 1 year renewable service for something like $107. Being in on the initial offering, I got mine at $95.40 a year.

I hear that rates will be going up in October so I again advise folks to figure out a way to make it work and go with it.

I signed up last month, and have used it quite a bit. I think it's great, but I'm going to need a new keyboard soon, because the coins I see there make me drool all over it!

Having read Cardinal's remarks and having looked at his Large Cent collection, I might have to try Coin Facts. The endorsements don't come much better.

To be honest, I wanted to sign up for Coin Facts when I recently signed up for membership. I got some kind of message along the lines of "you cannot have two items in your cart". I opted for the membership and never got around to going back and signing up for Coin Facts. Had the checkout process been different you would have had another customer months ago.

I paid the subscription fee for coin facts about 6 or 7 months ago??? Honestly when I used it back then I just felt that it did not contain the information I was looking for. I cancled after having it for roughly 3 months. I am sure alot has changed since then and it might be a bit more useful now but I dont really want to pay the fee again just to find out its still not what I need. Maybe a few peope here can answer a question or two for me?

1. Does coin facts now contain realized auction results for both pcgs and ngc?
2. Does coin facts have several of the realized auction prices instead of just one or two? Do they now have clickable links to the coins within the auction results?
3. Does coin facts list at least the major varietys within a series ? Example, if I look up the 1888 indian cent will coin facts state something about the 1888/7 variety?
4. Does coin facts list the pop reports for both pcgs, ngc as well as cac? Similar to what heritage is now doing?

4. PCGS only lists pop reports for PCGS coins. To expect them to function like a non-TPG Auction house such as Heritage is just stretching your expectations.

I personally really like CoinFacts and appreciate all the time, effort, research, and just plain work PCGS takes in putting this together and continually updating it. I don't know of any other single place to get the information you can get from CoinFacts. Yes, some of the information is available elsewhere, but only bits and pieces. Why don't you take the Coin Facts Tour and find out for yourself whether it will meet your needs.

Don't think it's too much of a stretch to want that information on a website called CoinFacts... otherwise it's more like PCGSFacts...

I'll probably sign up and give it a try after the summer. Very cool to offer out the free memberships to the folks that really need it.

Thanks David and all else who have poured in countless hours to this website. Best $100 I could have ever spent, and has paid for itself many times over with aid in purchasing decisions. What's really cool is that occasionally you can find an actual photo of the coin you're trying to buy. Love it!
