I went to the AT&T National at Aronimink this past week and it was a great experience. The weather was perfect and the course was in "Major" shape. I had seen the Seniors and LPGA in the past, but this was the first PGA Men's event I attended. Tickets were relatively inexpensive, $20 for the Wednesday Pro-AM and $40 for the opening round on Thursday.
During the day I made sporadic trips to the practice range to see what skills the players were practicing. And it is true about Vijay Singh, he always seemed to be hitting balls or practicing putting.
Autograph opportunities are excellent, especially on Tuesday and Wednesday. The players carry their own Sharpies and every one was extremely nice and courteous.
Naturally Tiger was the big draw. I followed him around during the Pro-Am and since he teed off at 6:40, there were only about 100-200 people following him through the first nine holes. After that he was surrounded by a sea of people at all times. I can't imagine how one can get used to that attention and scrutiny all the time. Even on the practice green people were lined up 5-6 deep just to watch him putt.
Here are a few pictures I took. I can't wait for next year.
