What are some of the most competitive player sets?

I don't have many high profile player sets, but from time-to-time I do find the competition for certain cards pretty fierce.
There are two types of people in this world; those who like Neil Diamond, and those who don't. My ex-wife loves him!!

    imo Most competitive would be Roberto Clemente, Pete Rose, Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays. When you are talking about certain extremely low population cards, there may be other players involved in addition to the master set builders. Hope that helps.

    Us Ripken guys have been known to get kinda retarded at times.

    Retarded is an understatement... $500 for a 1985 Topps... $150 for a 1988 Topps... I could go on! Luckily things have quieted down a bit lately in the Ripken world, but we're still out there lurking. image

    I've refrained from diving into the Rose set simply because of its size and the big money it would take to complete the set in a respectible grade.
