Aussie Rules on ESPN

I'm not sure if anyone else on here follows Aussie Rules Football, but I've noticed that ESPN is beginning to televise games. I noticed it a few weeks ago and was not sure if it was a one time thing or not, but I was channel surfing tonight and another game will be on ESPN at midnight tonight (Richmond/Sydney for those interested). After looking into it more I found a full schedule of games that will be shown on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPN3 throughout the year, once a week.

Just a heads up for those of you that follow it, or may just enjoy watching it!

Awesome! I taped it and watched most of it this morning. Any particular teams you like? We have friends in Perth so we try and follow West Coast Eagles and Fremantle, but don't really have any favorites. It's tough to follow closely over here but we at least normally check on the standings and results every once in a while.

H20,I forgot to ask this before...

Does your local PBS channel broadcast games?

The reason I ask is because I just got done watching St Kilda beat Geelong in a game that was from about a week ago and it made me wonder if you knew about it/your local channel carried it. Our PBS channel shows a few games each week normally at night around 9 pm and another following at midnight. They're taped, but it's better than nothing!

Nope. I started watching it on ESPN back around 1983 and then Fox Sports had a network that carried it. But my cable provider stopped carrying it a few years ago (we get Fox Sports South - I think it was Pacific, maybe not). So the AFL site shows the games but they are always with score provided. We used to have a party with 10-12 people every year for the Grand Final. Of course, this would be a LATE party, since the game usually started in the middle of the night. I always followed Collingwood, since they were fun to watch with Nathan Buckley, Chris Tarrant, and Anthony Rocca. Years ago I was following Footscray, but not so much since they became Western Bulldogs. Honestly, I can watch just about any two teams play. It is always a lot of fun. Hopefully this will be a trend for ESPN2 for the remainder of the season (AND BEYOND!!!).

It's so much fun to watch! Even if the game is a blow out it is as exciting as ever!
