With a fat stack of cash.

He had two freezer bags full of 90%. One quarters, primarily washies. The other ave circ walker halves. Big bags, bursting at the seams.

Over $4k @ 13x sitting on his counter.

Can I get half of that? I asked expecting him to jump at the offer.

No, he said. I sold it half an hour ago on the phone. He'll be here in an hour to pick it up.

Went across the street and bought my wife some way overpriced flowers at the high-end florist. At least I didn't come home empty-handed image

I went by the local coin dealer (there are plenty but this is the most reputable one) with plenty of paper, looking for some interesting classic American gold and lo and behold the lady in front of me was just taking some cash for her beautiful St. Gaudens. One minute later the dealer told me that the Saint was not for sale. He only had two damaged US coins in stock (one cleaned, the other one ex-jewelry - which I'd returned after noticing it under a loupe last week after cleaning him out of his US classic gold). He is hoarding all classic US gold for better prices! None for sale! To tell the truth, I am not surprised; I'm doing the same. But I'm not a dealer. He wouldn't accept a quick and sizable profit on the flip.

What is the going rate x face for US now? I was in a B & M the other day and they were buying at 10 x face. That seemed like it was sorta low. -Dan

It fluctuates with the market. But my dealer has recently been buying at 10x and selling at 12-13x depending on type, condition, etc.
