You know how you know I'm a coin/metals nerd?

It's not the kill, it's the thrill of the chase.
Was running some errands with my 22-year old nephew this afternoon. He's a metals nerd, too. All the way we were arguing about relative values of paper currency, physical possession vs. ETFs and other investment vehicles, how the rich get richer, and every other metals/financial topic you can think of. Stopped by the B&M, and though he had some stuff, nothing was really hitting me so we went away empty handed.
Got done with the rest of the errands and popped into a grocery store to grab a soda. On the way out, stuck the key in the ignition and saw this lying on the ground in the spot in front of me:
Did a double-take, then looked left and right to see if anyone was around who might have dropped it. Nobody. Jumped out of the car, scooped it up.
Drove straight back to my B&M and slapped it on the counter, and asked for the best deal of 90% and numismatic value he could give me for it. Here's what I "found" in the parking lot: 1929-D SLQ and 1943-S WLH:

We are like children who look at print and see a serpent in the last letter but one, and a sword in the last.

I've been snookered B4 with them.
Nice score!
<< <i>Excellent deployment of $10. >>
Not so much for $11, though
He probably could have given me a dime, too. But the '29-D SLQ is a semi-key date. 4th lowest mintage of the series. Besides, you can't argue with free

<< <i>You're lucky it wasn't one of those Gospel Tracts that look like currency folded up !

He was lucky it wasn't a game of shiit dollar, where you attach poop to a dollar and watch from far vantage point while people pick it up and put back down.
