2009 Quarter First Day Covers - Gone Dark Today, LOW Mintage

AkbeezAkbeez Posts: 2,689 ✭✭✭✭✭
Last Chance Sale ended today at the Mint. All the 2009 FDCC Quarters went off-line at once, no more will be done for the next quarters. This may have some interesting consequences as they appear to have BY FAR the lowest mintages of any other Statehood Quarter FDCCs. I mean less than HALF the quantity, not just a few less. I'm guessing by the lack of discussion from the forumoids that there was little interest, or -- knowledge?

The last mintage posting was last Sunday at 10,437 sets for the Northern Marianas Islands. Some of the lowest previous sets have been in the 26k range for New Mexico (could be others? don't have all in front of me currently). Alaska (26.8k) has been selling in the $60-$100 range for some strange (politico??) reason. The NMI were the shortest duration on sale (last in the series), so it stands to reason they would have the lowest sales. Other 2009 issues are low, but the last two issues are the lowest.

Here's the posting from CoinNews.net

While the Statehood Quarter program has cooled in recent years, I must admit the newer packaging in the last two years with the FDCC's is very handsome, adding to the attractiveness for the series. BUT, the question is: will there be demand?

I managed to pick up a few, anyone else?
