That is what they have been going for. You do not see them that often.

interesting. im not sure about the price yet but its interesting
  • I could be wrong on this but I think that a lot of those old poured Engelhard silver bars were minted in the 1970's and maybe that is why some of them have high premiums on them since they are probably hard to find locally. Again I could be totally wrong on this.

Agree. Also, Engelhard didn't make very many of the odd sizes such as 3 oz and 7 oz sizes which are quite scarce now. The problem is, if you had to sell them quickly to a local B&M coin dealer, would you get offered more than melt?

If you had to sell an old poured style Engelhard bar to a local B&M dealer, then the local B&M dealer will give you only the silver value minus a discount. Selling them on ebay is the best way to get a huge premium over spot for those Engelhard bars because collectors are willing to pay a huge premium to get one of those bars.

This is correct. Odd weight bars are discounted in dealer trading.

I was saying that most B&M dealers wouldn't pay a premium. I didn't realize that they discounted them when buying them.

  • Welllll ........... My favorite dealer does buy Engelhard, JM and Degussa bars , of unusual size, at a premium.

Would the board consider it " Spam " to mention a really great dealer with a really nice B&M shop?

I would not considering - AMPEX, Gainsville, & Tulving are mentioned on a daily basis.

I'm always looking for a new spot to buy fromimage
