q about george II medal found near fort site

I own a George II medal (Queen on the reverse) that was found near a French and Indian War fort site. Now, it's not an official Indian Peace Medal. I'm just wondering if a medal like this would have come out to the fort to possibly be used as an Indian Peace medal? It's not a large medal, just a bit larger than a U.S quarter and brownish-grey base metal. Is it just as (more?) likely it was used to be a medal for British soldiers?
