Is this Jim Brown RC legit???
I'm almost 99,9% positive it is but I am new to vintage and have this card and recently started hearing about fakes of big time cards such as the Aaron and Mays and Mantle RCs and was weary because this is a big time vintage football card:

Here is mine...it's not for sale, but it blows the doors off that '7'...something looks wrong with that one. Top right corner appears to be dinged pretty good. I am just not sure about that one. Might be real, but overgraded?
PS - I didn't say your card wasn't real. I am not a believer that it is a '7'. I would check the case out along the edges.
If you can, scan a pic of it against a black background......white is easy to hide defects....
<< <i>Yeah the 6 is nice on yours..However mine isnt overgraded I think the scan is just not very good...The corners are nice on my Brown...how could you tell if yours is real? >>
It looks good to me.
<< <i>Are Brown Rc's faked frequently and as a new vintage collector what are some things to look for in fake cards graded by PSA >>
To my knowledge, PSA doesnt grade fake cards.

i can think of one
<< <i>one what? i know people fake them and then turn the slabs different so it looks real... >>
i wasn't referring to the brown. i was talking about the 1985 chong modesto A's mark mcgwire card which they have graded over 10,000 fakes

you need to buy a SCG counterfeit book, most current. this will help alot on what to look for. JMHO
Either people have too much money and love to spend it on things and then ask questions when it may be too late OR they just like to play stupid for ships and giggles and see how many people will play along.
Perhaps it is both . . .
<< <i>How am I trying to play games I just want some help...Thanks for the big help buddy but why don't you not comment if your just gonna be smart ok? >>
Well, if you're not "playing games," then see the first part of my statement.
If you're "new to vintage," I find it odd that you're plunking down $600+ on a card THEN you're asking whether it is counterfeited or not. I would venture to guess that it is not a card you've had for a long time as the label is relatively recent.
So, I shouldn't comment if I'm "just gonna be smart?" Alright, I'll only post in your threads when I'm gonna be stupid...

huh? who PSA?
All Billsfan13 has done since he got here is want to know about how to spot fakes, and how can you spot a fake even if it's graded, etc....as if he wants a tutorial from us. Are you making fakes and wanting info so you can avoid making obvious mistakes scammers make?
If I'm wrong im sorry, but you've had my spider senses tingling since your first post.

<< <i>No lol thanks! I will order it right now hope it helps me..Look I'm not trying to be a pain in the butt but I'm a little obsessive when it comes to me spending hundreds of dollars on a card and me not knowing everything I possibly can on it...I probably shouldn't have bought it until I was more familiar with the vintage part of the hobby but that's something I'll learn from. >>
As I stated in my earlier post, and I will reiterate, if you're going to toss cash after cards and do so in an uninformed manner, you will be sorry. Despite your contention above, you're not really that obsessive. You're being foolish!
You're right in that you shouldn't have bought it and shouldn't be diving into the "vintage part of the hobby" until you are more informed. I'm not saying you lack knowledge, but when you find yourself asking such questions AFTER the fact, it strikes me as peculiar.
You can do as you like, but too often I've seen people buy, buy, buy and then cry, cry, cry.
I've been around this hobby for far longer than I care to admit and have forgotten more than some may know, but when I'm making a big purchase or considering buying something that I am not certain of, I pause. I seek the wisdom of wiser counsel and make an then make an informed decision. I don't spend my money, or the money of others, then wonder if I made the right decision.
Your card looks like a 7 to me. Just a bad scan, that's it.
Most PSA 7 Jim Brown rookies I've seen have a few corners that show modest wear/touches. Some show corner flaking, tiny dings, and general wear under a 10x loupe. This card usually has print issues too, has focus problems, and is often found slightly off center.
You might want to buy a 10x loupe to help you out on vintage purchases. Obviously this will only help you at card shows and after you're made ebay purchases. Still its a good tool to have to be able to look at the corners/edges under magnification. This is the way PSA grades and looks over most higher dollar vintage cards.
Also when scanning your card again, just leave the lid open. This will give you a black background. Set your DPI to at least 250 on your scanner. That should give you enough detail in your scans.
Will have to re-scan Johnny U obviosuly so you probably cannot see anything there...Anyone know the seller baseballcardinvestments?
"I'll re-scan my Brown..."
"Yeah My scanner is down but I'm going to take good pictures of both sides on a black background"
"Okay first of all my scanner is at work."
<< <i>Also, I tracked down who I bought it from...I guess I've had it longer than I thought...Username footballcole724 on ebay with 414 feedback still selling PSA graded vintage cards now so I'm assuming I'm all good...Thanks for all the help everyone I think I have a better idea now and will be getting that book. I may be picking these up by tomorrow...Thoughts?

I have bought from that seller w/out any issues.
Super Bowl XXVIII: Buffalo Bills vs Dallas Cowboys -
Running back Emmitt Smith rushed for 132 yards and 2
touchdowns earning Super Bowl MVP honors as the Cowboys
defeated the Bills 30-13 to win their second consecutive NFL
title.
If you bought your Brown PSA 7 awhile ago, why are you posting in the BST looking for a Brown PSA 7? It is possible that you want another, but that seems a bit odd.
<< <i>Things we've heard from Billsfan13 in this thread so far:
"I'll re-scan my Brown..."
"Yeah My scanner is down but I'm going to take good pictures of both sides on a black background"

"I'm a high roller"
<< <i>nam813- .............. >>
Whew, that was a close one. I thought he meant me.
<< <i>nam813- Does this thread concern you at all? You have said nothing useful and continue to throw out insults yet you have no idea what your talking about. You don't know me and I gave you 2 places to check my ID for feedback is that a scammer's work? Why don't you just leave without acting like a cop on the internet. Your just making yourself look stupid. As for the rest of you thanks for the help. I've heard enough insults from the people on these boards already and to be quite honest don't ppreciate it. I answered your question on my Brown already. I want to upgrade my 7 it has weary top right corner and I want a better one that's why I posted it. Is it any of your business anyways? I don't think so. >>
Actually, it is our business. It is our business because YOU'VE posted it here.
This is a pretty tight community. There are a lot of new ID's that come and go. Some just stop by to stir the pot and then head on. Some are posters that have been bounced for one reason or another. Some are new collectors that are legit and will become constructive members of the board. Some are folks with chips on their shoulders and think that because they are the big dealer at the local firehouse once a month, that they have more and know more than anyone else.
Several on this board will be leery of new posters, especially those that post higher profile cards and ask "newbie-like" questions about them. Others will be offended when someone posts that they're a "high roller."
Just a word to the wise, you may think you're a "high roller," but there are many on this board that can buy and sell you times over. They'll NEVER flaunt their status in the hobby or self-promote themselves. Rather than try to convince us of how great you are and how loaded you are and ask us to check your feedback, try putting the ego aside and let things go where they will.
Contradictions are another great thing. You stated that you didn't know whether your Brown may have been counterfeited, but you are looking to buy another to upgrade it? Wouldn't it be prudent to find out what you need to know first?
It will be interesting to see if you're around in another month. Your tone and arguments, however, sound conveniently familiar.
Stupid example/////////////but you all with get the point. Hi, I'm Bill Gates. Can you show me how to email someone from my yahoo account?=============It doesn't make sense.
