q about indian peace medals

I own a George II medal (Queen on the reverse) that was found near a French and Indian War fort site. Now, it's not an official Indian Peace Medal. I'm just wondering if a medal like this would have come out to the fort to possibly be used as an Indian Peace medal? Or is it just as likely it was used to be a medal for British soldiers?
