What are we suppose to be looking at....color? If so, that is pretty normal with every Topps issue, and not considered different or a variation by most/almost all.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
There are a few modern cards with color variations common, which I personally consider variations. But I am likely alone...and both are football.
1991 Pro Line Portraits has a silver logo on the front of the card. All cards can be found with variable amounts of silver including no silver. I only consider very silver and a very while one variations.
1994 (?) Action Packed Rookies and Stars....has a yellow logo. All cards the cards can be found, somewhat common, with too much red ink. They messed up on color seperations or something. I only consider the cards with a very yellow and a very orange logo as being different. Again, all variation of color can be found.
It is possible, most card issues are like this if you study them. That some part with have a common slight different color variation.

<< <i>Is this just a printing difference or could this be a true variation?

However, back in 87 I tried to make an all dark set and an all light set.
Very difficult.
