84 Topps Blackless -- Backdoored ?

hey guys ....we recently saw some 89 topps blackless appear but they were blank black and confirmed to be from a Topps employee...


I recently purchased 32 1984 blackless -- there were a few on ebay as well....

These have the front and back -- check em out

I asked the seller and he said you used to buy from a card dealer at the big shows that had a bucket of oddball things..


ps -- these are the only 2 doubles I have for people that have PM'ed me...



but I will get rid of these 2 for a good price...


anyone have any other info ?

I don't know a ton about the '82 blackless, or anything about the '89s, but like the 89's, wouldn't you say these '84s are kind of a "one time" printing error more than true variations?

Seems to me like the '82s get a lot of attention because they're prevalent in larger quantities... a true variation that can be tracked back to being distributed in packs. I would think these 84s fall into more of the blank back realm of an oddity.

Very cool cards and I'm not trying to take away from them, guess I was just adding my $.02.
