Did BBCE Raid Dave & Adams?

Was just noticing how much new stuff BBCE got in the last day or two, a lot of boxes from 2000-2010, where BBCE usually didnt have anything newer than 2000. Although it is rare, when I was looking at something modern to buy, like A&G or something, I had to go to different sites, but now with all the modern boxes Steve got in, it will make for one stop shopping. Didnt know if this was a one time buying binge or if he's going to continue stocking newer items now. I know he read the board from time to time, so thought I would throw it out there in case anyone else didnt know he had the newer stuff in as well.

I noticed a bunch of his 80's stuff was replenished too... they're not in the New Items section. I only looked for the '80s stuff, not sure about pre-'80s.

I think it's a good move for Steve to buy up some of this stuff, just adds more people to his customer base.

I think it is a very smart move. As us collectors continue to open 70s material (or earlier), that becomes harder to restock. Moving forward in time is only a natural progression and will assure his business continues to grow. Of course, a lot of the 80s stuff will never run out, especially 1987 Topps. image

Good business move and also survival. Spend money if there is profit to be made. Steve obviously knows how to make it so he will surely do well.

Hey guys, this is Reed Kasaoka, the new Director of Acquisitions at BBCE. I just joined Steve Hart and his staff last month. For the past six years, you may have known me as the vintage buyer at DACW, and my primary responsibility was buying that wide variety of 1980-2008 product you were used to seeing.

Now that I'm working with Steve, you'll see some positive changes at BBCE. First, there will now be two buyers criss-crossing the country instead of just Steve. He needs to concentrate on running a growing business, plus, Steve has a young daughter he'd like to spend more time with. Second, while you know BBCE for vintage (pre-1980) product, with my expertise in modern wax, we want to become your #1 source for all unopened product. We won't be carrying new releases, but once a product has been out for a couple of years, we'll try to stock it. Finally, we will be increasing our PSA graded card inventory, not just in high grades, but in collectible grades as well. I had great success implementing this program at DACW and think we'll do an even better job at BBCE.

The recent influx of modern wax you see on the website was from my first deal last month in San Diego. Currently, I'm on my way back from Colorado as we just bought out a 3700 square foot retail store! There will be over a 1000 boxes of mid-90s through mid-00s wax in inventory over the next couple of weeks. Next, I'll be hitting the New England states for a few more deals. I'm looking forward to helping Steve firmly establish BBCE as the #1 source for unopened product in the industry. Hope to see you all at the National in Baltimore!

I just went with my heart on the avatar when I signed up. Maybe I'll take the time to make a cool design a bit later.

CrimsonTider, I've seen your posts and from what I gather, you have a sick Murphy card collection. I've often thought about trying to do the same, but I'm going to stick to just game used Murphy items. It won't be any fun if I can't catch you.

Reed, Welcome aboard, I have always enjoyed working with you on PSA graded cards when you were with Dave and Adams, and am really excited that you've found your way over to one of my preferred sources for graded HOFers. See you at the National!
