I am not sure what kind of coins you refered to but I think if you can sell for higher price then you are not over bid. I bought couple coins in HA auction I thought I was over bid for one coin which was about 5k but I can sell it one month later for over 6k, so it is not over bid.

Do give some examples for us to bat about! I mean very hard to comment otherwise...

The 6 pieces I was watching all went for prices well over the levels I expected to see. I was one of those fools that chased a piece higher than I should have, but I have had trouble getting my hands on this particular issue for years. I ended up going 1 for 6.

I have to say, I did not bid on anything in the auction, nothing of real interest for me. But I did go back and check on the 1850 Silling which went for $425 which doesn't seem out of line. They list for 400 Pounds in Fine and 1000 in VF in the 2010 Spink.

In general though I feel like World coin prices have moved up significantly in many areas over the past 12-18 months. There are a few countries where you can find relative bargains but they are getting to be fewer and fewer.

I believe I won the 1858 Canadian 5c silver graded MS62 by ANACS. I got it on the cheap. Two of the other 5c's I was watching went for 2x and more of estimate and they were raw coins but had very nice color.

I have a question about ungraded coin from B&Mor HA. What happens if you bought a coin from B&M or HA and send it to grade and it come back as questionable authenticity? Can you return it? Is this happened to anyone before? Thanks.

My guess is that if it not slabbed it did not make the grade the first time around. I do not bid on raw. I believe they first pass it by the 3rd party graders.

Thanks for the answer. I am not worry about that much of the grade but rather if the coin is genuine.

Not always true. Sometimes, coins just do not get slabbed in time. I have not been burned yet by B&M (Ponterio) on raw. One time with Heritage (not a bad percentage) and they gladly allowed the return.

Did HA allow you to return the coin? Thanks.

Well it was graded cleaned/details vs. the grade they gave it in catalog.

I bought a raw coin from B&M in March for about $1800. I just sent it to NGC today. I hope it can be graded. I bought one from HA for about $900 and I sent it to ANACS, it returned XF45 details
