An upgrade for my penny set

This one arrived today, and although the slab is a little cloudy and scratched I am very happy with it. The auction images made it look mostly brown and kind of flat. In actuality it has plenty of red, blazing luster and an OK strike. The obverse nearly looks like a cameo with the brown toned portrait and mostly red fields. It's in an NGC 66RB holder.

Thanks coinkat, the portrait is browner than it looks in the image. I took 4 or 5 iamges but I just can't get it to look exactly as it does in hand. This is a lot closer than the auction photo which made it look dull and a lot more brown than it actually is.

This is from the auction images which show it mostly brown and don't show the luster.

That is a very nice upgrade, The young head design of the Victoria 1D is one of my favorite British coins.

    Congrats.

Jeff, just out of curiosity what is the price range for these pieces?

    Best,

That largely depends on the date and color- Low end common date uncs 125-175

Very nice score. In hand, d'you think PCGS would cross it at 66RB?

No on crossing in the NGC slab.

But I bet if I cracked it out and submitted it would make 66RB. In hand the luster is really strong with very few marks. The strike is only average but I think the luster makes up for that.
