Much to my surprise, I won this curious medal. Do not know much about it except it appears to celebrate some 1903 event, possibly sponsored by Princess Sophia of Greece, consort of the future King Constantine I. Notice the initials W SC on the lower left of the obverse.

Sophia means wisdom, probably not a reference to the princess but to Pallas Athena - the goddess named and pictured. Very nice medal. I'm guessing the edge has some Paris mint mark, perhaps a ram's head and "bronze".

My initial thought was that "Sophias" was wisdom. However, two Greek acquaintences of mine both told me that the legend was referencing a Princess Sophia.
