1961 Fleer Basketball Printing Marks?

I recently purchased the following PSA graded Fleer basketball cards from ebay. Now forgetting the fact that I should have looked more closely at the scans, how did these cards get graded PSA5 and PSA6?

As you can see, each card has a line through the middle that looks like a pen mark or that the card was cut. However, I'm assuming that it is neither and these are actually printing marks creating during the manufacture process of these cards? Does anyone who collects 61 Fleer Basketball know if this is prevalent in this set (similar to it being hard to find centered cards in the set)? Thanks!

the print marks, as well as many other faults, are not uncommon to the cards in this set.....presumably, the submitters of these cards requested no qualifiers, or perhaps the cards would have received a higher grade with a (PD) qualifier.

    hope this helps.

not with that centering, looks like someone did trimming on top of those cards

typical cuts.......there are over-sized, under-sized, angle cuts, diamond cuts, everything imaginable......getting a handful of these things in a raw collection is an adventure by itself. image

i was referring to the scratches, you can't seriously be defending these grades...

    image huh?

your first post was an accusation of trimming, now scratches......and i don't need to "defend" the grades, it seems pretty evident why they received the grades they did, assuming of course, that your suspicions wouldn't predicate a different outcome.

PSA is all over the map with regard to grading 1961 Fleer cards. Here's a generous one I got back a while ago.

my first post said it looked like someone was trimming cards on top of those cards (it looks like razor marks on the 61's), simmer down

The non-symmetrical or angled top cut is pretty normal as are the print lines/streaks across the cards (sometimes they're just ink lines and other times abrasions. scratches pr gouges). PSA is oft times lenient on them and other times bashes them. What I've found to be most consistent is that when the print line appear on cards that are otherwise EX to EX/MT, they tend to be ignored. When they appear on cards that are NM to NM/MT, they downgrade. It is an odd quandary, but seems to run true more times than not.

Thanks for the replies. I feel somewhat better about the cards now that I know that they're more prevalent. If someone does wish to trade for them, please pm me. Thanks.
