Strasburg debut ball up for auction - $5,000 so far

-->link<--

I'll guess that it goes for $8,200.

    I still can't believe that guy threw back that home run ball.

    Wonder how many of these there are? Likely at least 10 or 20 - still a very cool item.

    I thought the same thing when he threw it. I'm sure one of the players kept it though.

    First HR hit off Strasburg - that could one day be a 50K or 100K ball in my opinion, depending on how his career goes...that's decent money even to a player.

    Not only did that guy toss a ball that potentially could be worth tens of thousands of dollars, but he very likely got kicked out of Strasburg's first game! lol

    alot of folks will be jumping off cliffs when Stras has his first tommy john surgery.

    Remember that guy who bought the first PSA 10 McGwire RC? Ouch I think he got maybe 1/100th what he paid back out of it.

    He didn't. He was going to be kicked out, but the crowd convinced security to let him stay.

    At a game in the "Murder Capital", I probably would have let him stay too.

    Waaaaaaay more than 10 or 20. Per wiki:

    << <i>According to the MLB: "It says between five and six dozen baseballs are used during each baseball game, as many as 72 balls." >>

    Though I am surprised they aren't advertising a charity, since it's put on by MLB. Shame on them.

    I read somewhere that it appears to be Keith Olbermann who bought this ball.

    Yeah, the winner was Merkle923, and that's apparently Olbermann, based on this...
