New Errors & Variations -- (Maybe?) 1988 Topps Bill Pecota/1989 Fleer Bill Ripken/1989 ProSet Gi

Hey guys. I haven't kept up with my Error Card of the Week threads because of limited time and I have been working on my website www.sherrymagie.com (unfinished yet a shameless plug)

Anyways....I have been going through alot more errors and dealing with a lot more people/random cards.

I found 3 interesting variations of the 3 cards below.

1. Gizmo Willams (football A - footbal B- football C- fooball with dot on second l)

2. Bill Ripken ( Weird yellow stripe down right side of card front) <--- Maybe Donovan can chime in on this one

3. Bill Pecota (Ghostly type image to left on face (told this is only on earliest of prints) <-- 2 different cards shown so it is not just one time deal

Here ya go::

    Rich, I am stumped on the Pecota. Maybe I am not looking at the right area of the card?

    Almost all Gizmo corrections have the oddly-shaped 2nd L in "football" on back, some are just more pronounced than others.

    The Ripken's look like a printing flaw or ink streak, but it's hard to tell from the scan.

    Now that everyone seems to have the same shadow by Pecota's face maybe the corrected (without shadow) is more rare....

    anyone confirm this ?

    thx

    I still have no idea what I am supposed to be looking at.

    The pink area by the right side of his face? If so, every copy I have seen, has it.

  • Re: FF w/yellow stripe. I agree, appears to be a print flaw. Never seen it though.

    What I have seen is water stained FF cards. Quite a few over the years actually. We joke they are the coffee stained version. Us FF collectors like to joke. But we're not that funny.

  • Rich- Another printing flaw I've encountered with the FF card is what was labeled "Red Dot" in magazines. It's on his R forearm. I've also read about a "blue dot" which I've never seen but assume it's similar.
