A fun weekend nickel searching

I'm currently the lowest of low grade collectors, and am enjoying roll-searching nickels with my children. That is the heart of the hobby right?
Anyway, I came across a couple of pretty fun finds this weekend.
On Friday evening I was just starting a new box and this came out of the first roll - a 1939 Doubled Monticello; unfortunately he's spent some time in the ground.
And Saturday I came across a nice 1950-D!

1tommy only the World War II nickels have any silver in them, they can be distinguished by the large mint mark located over Monticello on the reverse (such as on your 1943). They were made for part of 1942-1945. Enjoy the hunt.
<< <i>I never found a 50-D in change. That is a real find! >>
I found one once, many years ago. A solid no-problem VF.
I understand this date is more common today in MS than in circ grades because of the pervasive roll and bag hoarding.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
