Does anyone know if PSA will grade 1981 True Value Cards

Here is a link to what they look like with a Mickey Mantle card.

I think these were "cut" out of some booklet so they would be hand cut, and they are postcard size. I think the artwork on them is absolutely beautiful. I would be grading a few cards if I did pick some up mainly just to protect them more than anything, as it appears the stock they are printed on is fairly thin, and of course being oversized they are likely a little more susceptible to damage.

I looked on the pop report and I did see a 1981 Fernando Valuenzuela True Value Card graded, but it was the only thing I could find, and not sure that card is even from this set or not.

Any thoughts, help etc appreciated.

Thanks!

Dave

Neat, I haven't seen those before. IMO, the picture and description make is look more like a magazine article cutout than an actual card. I can't tell if the stock is any thicker than the rest of the booklet or the pages of a magazine. If not, then I have a hard time actually calling it a card, but perhaps PSA grades them anyway. Doesn't look anything like the older perforated '86-ish True Value that PSA does grade, and obviously anything from '81 wouldn't fit into Mantle's registry set anyway.

I just sent them the Mantle for a reference.

I agree with most of the comments you have made here.

I sent a bunch of info to PSA and they said "Yes we do grade these cards"

I picked up the set of the 13 golfers as that are part of the set again mainly becuase I think these have some super looking artwork and are very attractive albeit oversized postcards. I am hopefull they will grade these strictly to help protect them from any future damage as the card stock is thinner.

You can be sure I am sending a copy of the "yes we grade these email" along with my submission.

I will let you all know down the road what I find out. One seller has a hoard of these things. They are very attractive looking cards in my opinion, but value????? In my case a rare golf issue is in the eye of the beholder, and he worked me out a great deal on the 13 golfers that were part of the "set"

    Thanks for all the info!

Any update on whether PSA will grade these or not? I'm guessing not, since there's nothing except the Fernando showing in the Pop and I think that's a different issue than the one's from the 4 book True Value series.

They are pages removed from little booklets that True Value sold. You can get a set of 4 complete books for about $10 on ebay.

The Fernando is an 86 but mislabeled in the pop report and the slab as an 81.

    Thanks,

Thanks, I've got copies of the books and if they were gradeable would contain two World Golf HOF RCs (Casper & Evans). Thought I'd check on these or if I have to go with 90 Pro Set/85 Whoozit.

ldferg, thanks for the info on the Valenzuela.
