Definitely NOT black. The fields also look to be pretty clean and relatively mark free.

A very nice coin overall but not for me.

Good luck to those who have bid and plan to bid.

Actually, neither was this 1836/1336 NGC AU58, which I recently sold to a fellow forum member.....too dark for my taste, but with an excellent strike.

oops! pcgs it is and yeah black is a big stretch. who knows how much color pops out in hand, but i'd say it's pretty.
I was most attracted to the reverse die clashing. very nice. and personally i've never been too disapointed
with heritages images and pleasantly surprised a couple of times.

Very nice CBH. I'll bet the obverse just sings with color in the right light. Nice strike, clean surfaces. It is a bit too dark for my collection.

I'm not surprised by a small premium. But I think it went for $hundreds more than it should have.

Drddm, I love that 1836 you parted with. If the luster is there, she should garner a plus. Nice hammered specimen!

Aside, perhaps someone thought the 1818 was shot MS?
