2006-W American Gold Eagle $50 PR70 FS

Can someone tell me why the PCGS Price Guide has the 2006-W American Gold Eagle $50 PR70 FS at $8000, whereas the same coin in a 20th Anniversary holder is listed as $6000?

This seems very strange to me.

JCoin - What do you think is strange about that? Do you believe the $8,000 coin is priced too high or too low? You will recall that the $8,000 coin was the original FS coin that came out in the 4 pc. proof gold set in the 1st quarter of 2006 and has a pop of 8 in PR70DC as I recall. The $6,000 coin is the one that came out later in the year in the 3 pc. 20th Anniv. set and has a pop into the hundreds in PR70DC last time I looked. Your thoughts?

    Thanks for the clarification.

Interesting thing is this - if I were to put together a 2006 Eagle First Strike Set it would include the two lowest mintage FS 1oz coins i.e. AGE $50 Pop 8 and APE $100 Pop 13 (?).

JCoin - Dont confuse "mintage" with "population". But, of course, the reverse proof from 2006 does have the lowest proof gold mintage ever for American Proof Gold Eagles.
